  1. Month 1: Implantation (days 1 to 29)

What's happening: Embryos spread through both horns of the uterus and implant between days 12 and 24. Most embryo losses happen now.

What to do: Avoid mixing, transport and heat stress. Do not overfeed in early pregnancy.

  2. Month 2: Skeleton forms (days 30 to 60)

What's happening: From about day 35 the piglets’ bones start to harden and the litter size is set.

What to do: Confirm by ultrasound. Feed for steady, moderate condition.

  3. Month 3: Udder development (days 61 to 90)

What's happening: The piglets grow steadily and the mammary glands start developing.

What to do: Condition score her and plan vaccines and deworming.

  4. Month 4: Final month (days 91 to 118)

What's happening: Piglets add about two thirds of their birth weight in the last month.

What to do: Increase feed, vaccinate, deworm and move her to the farrowing pen.

Pig pregnancy guide

How long is a pig pregnant?

A pig is pregnant for about 114 days (about 3.7 months). The normal range is 111 to 117 days, so most piglets arrive within that window rather than on the exact average day.

Quick rule: Count about 3.5 months forward from the breeding date, then adjust for breed.

How to use the pig pregnancy calculator

1. Enter the breeding date. The first day she was served or inseminated. Tap Use today if it was today.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a pig pregnant?

A pig is pregnant for about 114 days (about 3.7 months). Most piglets arrive between day 111 and day 117.

How accurate is this calculator?

It uses the average length and the normal range published in veterinary references, adjusted for the breed you pick. Individual animals vary, so treat the date as the middle of a window, not a promise.

When can I confirm the pregnancy?

Pregnancy check around day 30. Ultrasound scan from about day 25 to 35.

What if she goes past the due date?

Going a few days past the average is normal. The calculator marks day 117 as the end of the usual window and day 118 as the point to call your vet even if she seems well.

What are the signs that farrowing is close?

Nest building with straw or bedding. Milk can be squeezed from the teats (within 12 to 24 hours). Restless, lying down and getting up.
